Safari Day

A TYPICAL DAY WITH ROBIN POPE SAFARIS if there is such a thing!

We believe that everything should be flexible (our company motto is 'flexibility') and the length of the game drives/walks depends on the activity in the bush and the enthusiasm of the guests.   If you look at the activity page you will see that there are various options other than game drives and walks.  And the timings of these options may vary.  BUT  here is the general trend.

5.30 a.m.   wake up drum

5.45 a.m.   breakfast consisting of tea/coffee/toast/cereal/fruit around the camp fire

6.15 a.m.   leave camp on drive or walk.  There will be a mid morning tea/coffee and cake on the activity which is very welcome at that point.

10.00-11.30 or later – return to camp.  This really does depend on the guests, the temperature, the wildlife and is certainly not a set time.

12.00 noon or around then – lunch which is usually buffet style, with lots of salads!

After lunch – there is now a change to relax, read, sleep, watch the river, the game passing by or swim in the pool (Nkwali and Houses only).

3.30 p.m.  afternoon tea and cake (yes – more to eat!).  and then leave for afternoon activity.  We have a tradition of stopping for sundowners before driving on in the night, so do not be surprised when you are asked what you would like to drink at tea time !

After sunset – the drive continues with a spotlight to explore the noctural life – often an active time for the big cats as well as a surprising number of noctural creatures that are not seen during the day.

8.00 p.m.   return to camp for a drink, shower, before dinner.

8.30 p.m.   dinner is served.  Then guests usually gather around the fire for a final nightcap before turning in for a well earned sleep.
