We have so many wonderful letters and emails from our guests - thank you - many saying the RPS experience is a lifetime highlight. Here are a few.....

Picture it: 5:00 am breakfast on the river bank, an open fire where toast gets turned, and scrambled eggs are whipped up... just as light creeps over the horizon accompanied by honking hippos. The Nsefu team go all out - both in camp and when searching for leopard, Pel's Fishing Owls and the like. Brunches and dinners satisfy the fussiest of pallets. Each rondavel is impeccable as is the outdoor bathroom. One could not wish for a better camp to take in the best of Zambia's hospitality.

Well done Robin Pope, your camps are outstanding.

Seeing the National Park in the Emerald Season was a real treat and such a contrast with our usual Dry Season experience. It is our favourite place to visit and we are already planning our next trip in 2018.

Liuwa Plain with Robin Pope,

Nkwali is in a beautiful position on the bank of the river. Our accommodation was such a surprise-a huge beautifully made bed in the centre of a thatched hut situated well away from neighbouring huts. Staff at the camp were without exception friendly and helpful.

Stanley Safari Lodge, August 2016

This was a very memorable experience! We walked between the two excellently located camps with our guide Braston, whose guiding skills are exceptional, whilst Chris the scout kept us safe. The whole bush camp experience was wonderful and faultless. We appreciate very much the efforts of the whole team involved in the operation of looking after us, and moving the camp from one location to the next.

I have been to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, all wonderful place's, but what i loved most about Zambia is the remoteness, seeing more animal's then people, it's just packed with wildlife, and you can go day's before you saw another vehicle.... and have to reiterate how lovely the Zambian people are!

Nsefu, June 2016

This was our first visit to Zambia. What a great experience. The game viewing was extraordinary (more plains animals than we have seen before, and a lot of lions & leopards, hippos, buffalos, and elephants). Our guide (Chilumba) was excellent. The Manager, Chef, and Staff treated us like royalty. We will be returning, and recommending Luangwa River Camp to our friends.

Luangwa River Camp, May 2016

It was magical being in South Luangwa again. My first visit was 1989, then 2000 and now 16 years later - each time the high standard at Robin Pope does not change and there is a wonderful feeling of going home and being made to feel special. Christabel was an excellent hostess and Daudi was very friendly. They both give the Camp a nice feel. The food at River Camp was delicious - which I understand is a combination of good cooking and Christabel’s influence on the menu.

Luangwa River Camp, April 2016

We had a fantastic stay at Pumulani. Christelle & Josh did everything to please us, very high level of hospitality, the staff was wonderful and accommodation superb. Thanks for the wonderful stay, but also our admiration for Loyce, for what she does for the children in the village.

Pumulani, April 2016

Nsefu was always my favourite and it has retained that special magic of remoteness and understatement. Sebastian who was managing the camp was a professional and charming host with a relaxed courtesy and humour, and our guide, Braston was
endlessly energetic and informative without ever being patronising.

The hospitality and elegance of our serving staff Loti and Felix was outstanding, and the kitchen chef Nixon world class. We were extremely lucky to have had Obi as our guide. There is so much to love about Tena Tena. The location, the guides, Cristobel, and the tents were all superb. There was a certain ambience at this camp that held the most appeal to me. Everyone seemed very happy and relaxed while still remaining professional and safety minded. This was my second stay at a Robin Pope camp, so I knew generally what to expect.

This is one of the best holiday experiences you could ever hope for. The house and setting are breath taking. We had wonderful safari trips into the park with our superb guide (Keke) and saw lots of animals very close up including leopard and lions. Best of all though were the wonderfully friendly staff and the superb food. If you go to one place in Africa make sure this is it.

Family Safari with RPS,

Our honeymoon was kicked off with a 4 night stay at Pumulani lodge. This was an amazing introduction to Malawi and we managed to relax and enjoy the magnificent views from the lodge. The staff really should be commended as they did what they could to accommodate us and made us feel very special with private dinners and bubbly etc. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Pumulani, December 2014

The walking safari was just what I was looking for. Great group of trekkers, and a super staff. I'd like to find something for them to improve upon, but I can't - they've obviously been doing this a long time, and know how to make the mobile safari work.

1417161659,

An memorable safari combining some of the best locations in South Luangwa National Park.

Bush Camping Safari,

The perfect balance of romance, relaxation, adventure, and indulgence.

RPS Honeymoon Trail,

We were so privileged to spend time in the bush with knowledgeable and passionate guides and to learn about the wildlife and the environment. I also loved how warmly everyone treated my teenage son. His 15th birthday at Nsefu was his best ever, and he will be a fan of Braston's for life, telling people how his Zambian friend taught him how to drive. Hannah and her team made him a great birthday cake and he will never forget the experience.

Luangwa Safari House, March 2014

Nkwali was as magical as my husband and I remembered it to be. Again the staff were delightful. Christabel and Nikki couldn't have done more to make our stay absolutely wonderful. They even organised a surprise lunch in the Bush . We just didn't want to leave South Luangwa! The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and Robin Pope Safari staff make the game drives and the whole experience unforgettable with their incredible knowledge of animals and fauna . We just loved it!

As a long-time follower of RPS (having been a couple of years behind Robin at Falcon College), I have always wanted to do the River Journeys ever since it was launched. I have been to a number of countries in Africa over the years and like most, usually visit in the dry months, so was keen to visit it during the wet and I must say everything about the trip more than surpassed my expectations.

Michael Worthington – UK

River Journeys, February 2014

I recently stayed with my wife Helen at Luangwa River Camp, Nsefu and Nkwali.
We had a fantastic trip in the Emerald Season. The staff at all three camps were exemplary, and the guides – Sebastian, Bertrand and Braston – made the whole experience very memorable.

Thank you for all your work and the great co-ordination, which puts Robin Pope head-and-shoulders above its competitors.

From game viewing experiences, tours of coffee/tea estates, historical tours, shopping in local markets, tracking the elusive rhino to relaxing on the beautiful shores of Lake Malawi, there will not be a dull moment with this safari.

1387448369,

What better way to celebrate this peace loving nation's 50th anniversary than with a taste of its key attractions.

1382103837,

The accommodation is the best I have personally stayed in during my 5 1/2 stint in Malawi. The family room is beautifully designed with a spacious and comfortable lounge area that literally opens out to a wonderful view of a set of rapids rolling down the Mkulumadzi river. The bedrooms provide equally wonderful and open views and as mentioned in several other reviews the air conditioning system is ingenious and very effective. It's an amazing place that has people working for it who will do everything they can to make your stay a very memorable one.

Mkulumadzi, January 2014

Stanley Lodge itself was fantastic. Clara and Rob were very professional and their customer relation skills second to none. All members of staff were friendly and efficient and no request was too great. The kitchen produced culinary delights for lunch and dinner every day and catered extremely well for people's dietary requirements. A fellow guest was gluten, dairy intolerant and a vegetarian too, I was totally impressed by the meals prepared for him.

Pumulani, September 2013

The accommodation hit just the right note between great comfort and fitting in with its surroundings, the food was excellent, and the standard of guiding impressive. Jessica did a brilliant job of managing everyone, providing a very relaxed - but efficient - atmosphere. And then, of course, the animals! Having arrived with the knowledge that this was certainly no zoo with guaranteed sightings, they were all most accommodating, with the exception of the invisible hyenas! To see a leopard deciding that a porcupine represented a few prickles too far was an unforgettable experience.
> So thank you to everyone who helped to make our first safari so memorable.

Tena Tena, August 2013

This camp was magical. The bar, dining area and breakfast area on the riverbank were stunningly beautiful, but the critical factor that enabled us to enjoy this camp and its location so much was the staff; attentive, caring, professional and great fun. Special mention for Jessica, our host, who was superb on every level and whose company we enjoyed immensely.

Ultimately its all about the wildlife though and we are indebted to the patience, skill, knowledge and great humour of Nyambe, our guide for 3 days. The game drive and walking safari experiences were humbling, enthralling, extraordinary and basically beyond my range of superlatives.

Tena Tena, July 2013

Outstanding wildlife and wonderful walks. The camp was super - lovely people, excellent food . I didn't think it could get better but this was the best - to stand 50 metres from a curious bull Giraffe was amazing and we also saw elephant close up and a buffalo herd.

The game drives day and night were outstanding with two different leopards everyday, lions and a multitude of other animals.

Nsefu, July 2013

Tena Tena was the third stop on our trip to South Luangwa, and the staff, the food and the location were just as excellent as they had been at Nsefu and Nkwali. Tena Tena felt more private than the other two camps. The tents are spaced very generously along the river bank with great views of the Luangwa, and the trees between the tents made us feel like we had this place just to ourselves.

it was absolutely fantastic! The travel arrangements worked perfectly. The location, standards and staff at the camp were all excellent. As I like cake a lot, I was happy to hear the drums sound several times a day summoning us for more and more delicious food laid on by the camp cooks. Our room was very nice...it was so cool that the animals could literally wonder in. You could sit inside the room and Monkeys would walk almost right up to you. As a big Monkey fan, this was basically my idea of heaven. The Safaris themselves were amazing. I saw so many animals - Lions, Leopards, Giraffe, Zebra, Buffalo, Empala, Bush Buck, Water Buck, Kudu, Warthogs, Elephants, Crocodiles, Hippos - the list is almost endless! It was brilliant to have such experienced and interesting guides too. Luangwa Safari House is gorgeous and the view amazing. But what set Robin Pope's house aside was the talent of our guide Kanga who explained to us everything about birds, mammals, stars. We saw giraffe, zebras, hyenas and leopards (5 in one day! How talented is our guide!). James, our host, also looked after all of us very nicely and even baby sat the girls who got tired one afternoon.

Game drives, walks and particularly spectacular sundowners at Nkwali! The staff and food were wonderful and I would recommend anyone to visit this area in the Emerald season. We did feel we couldn't visit Zambia without an insight into local life. We visited Kawazi Village, joined the children for lessons in school, visited the medical clinic on mother and baby health check day and sampled some of the local food. Nkwali is a friendly camp with great staff, wonderful atmosphere and everything you would expect for the perfect safari experience.

We had always heard that Africa gets under your skin and our magical time here at Luangwa Safari House proved this to be true. Our experiences simply could not have occurred without Irene, Jacob, Hawk, Peter 31, Emmanuel, Edward, Moses, Simon, John and the others "behind the scenes". Thank you, thank you! We all have a lump in our throats this morning of our departure... We will be back.

Luangwa Safari House, August 2011

Nsefu: Our favourite camp, Daudi was a perfect host and his staff were exceptional. The setting of the camp was amazing and Sebastian was a fantastic guide. A very close encounter with elephants in the camp was the highlight. Felt thoroughly comfortable in this expectionally well organised camp. Great stuff!

Nsefu, July 2011

Pumulani: Such a treat despite the slightly disappointing weather. Rooms were so well maintained and luxurious. The staff were willing to fit anything into your time table which was great. The casual nature of the beach facilities was fantastic and made such a change! We had a great few days here kayaking, cycling and walking. The efforts of the hotel to improve the lives of local people was appreciated, as was selling the beautiful products by Lois in the shop. The food wasn’t amazing but the location of the resort was phenomenal. Take me back!

Pumulani, July 2011

Most luxurious accommodation and very good atmosphere at Nkwali. The food was exceptional. The guiding was totally brilliant. Was there anything that Victor did not know, and his knowledge and understanding of the animals and the bush was shared with us with thoughtful charm. Kiki and Zebron who manage the camp were excellent as was Harriet our hostess.

Jane Cholmeley - UK

Nkwali, July 2011

So fantastically well organised, we felt so privileged to be in the wild with such a interesting and absorbing guide. Food and little things such as hot water bottles were exceptional.

Luangwa Bush Camping, July 2011

Tena Tena has just as high a standard as Nkwali. Bertram, the manager and Julius, our guide, were superb. The food was of restaurant quality and the atmosphere friendly. Once again the guiding was world class, not just identifying the animals and birds but learning about their behaviour.

We have had a wonderful short stay here at Luangwa House and were treated like royalty. Our thanks go the the lovely, conscientious staff who made our stay memorable and increased our desire to come back. Irene, Jacob, Sandwe, Edward, Simon and Peter were all great at their jobs and made our stay such a success. Thank you so much.

Luangwa Safari House, June 2011

We just have one word to describe the experience "Spectacular". The lions coming right next to the pool was icing on the cake!! 15 elephants on the same day all around the house made us feel that we were right in the bush in a lovely house!! Irene, Kanga and Sandwe were spectacular hosts. Simon and his team in the kitchen were splendid in making great food all through our stay.
Thank you Robin Pope Safaris for making our stay in Zambia special.

Family Safari, June 2011

It has been a privilege to stay here. So much happens in a single day. Life is worth living - and we have been spoilt with superb attention from all the staff here - Irene, Jacob, Sandwe, Edward and others. We will take may special memories home - walking and learning from Jacob, seeing the young female leopard at midday: watching the yellow baboons feeding around the deck: enjoying marvellous meals and long siestas. Before the "long siesta" we hope to be back in the South Luangwa.

Luangwa Safari House, June 2011

Freddy was outstanding! We had our most fruitful night drive with him because he never let an opportunity get away. We were fortunate to get a very real & valuable & detailed wildlife and ecology education from Victor; it enriched our whole trip.

Nkwali, June 2011

We chose to start our safari at Pumulani and this worked very well, we were soon in holiday mode. The highlight for us were the charming staff, they are quite simply exceptional. They all went out of their way to make sure that our stay was something special. The villas are exceptional, luxurious, stylish and comfortable, and the views of the wonderful Lake Malawi from our villa (number six) were breath taking. A great strength is the variety of activities on offer. We very much enjoyed the village walk with Luckio and would highly recommend it, we felt welcome, that we were not interfering and in no way was the visit staged or artificial. Likewise, the nature walk with Glen and kayaking back, snorkelling with the cichlids and spotting the otters were highlights. The sunset outings on the beautiful Dhow are also highly to be recommended. Finally, the incredible stargazer telescope gave us wonderful views of Saturn.

Nkwali, June 2011

Everything about the trip was well thought out. The people, especially our guide Obi at Robin House is an amazing guide and a wonderful and thoughtful person. Obi is a treasure. We were impressed and pleased to find that most of the people in camp positions were local.

Robin's House, June 2011

We actually stayed in Robin's House next door to Nkwali as a small family group. House simple but very comfortable looking out over the Luangwa with our own guide and staff. Game drives and walk very enjoyable.

Tena Tena, May 2011

The sense of remoteness and genuine safari experience found in South Luangwa was pure delight. The camp managers, staff and guides were superb, Worlds away from the over commercial and crowded venues of Kenya and Tanzania. At Nkwali, Kanga's enthusiastic nature and knowledge made for wonderful game drives day and night

Luangwa Safari House was beyond our expectations! The staff, the food, the location and especially the host, Jacob (let's see what mother nature has for us today!).

Luangwa Safari House, April 2011

We have had a wonderful three nights here at the house. I have to pinch myself to be sure it's real. The game drives with Jacob have been great, not only amazing during off-road, but expert bush-eyes which spotted leopards on 2 consecutive days. The highlight being the second occasion when we got to see a leopard up a tree devouring an Impala she had killed and dragged up the same tree (judging from the state and smell of the carcass!). Delighted to see so many elephants too, even grazing right outside the house. The boys (Harry - 15, Eddie 12 and Ollie - 10) have really enjoyed themselves - this will be a very special memory for them, perhaps more so as they get older and fully realise just how special this place is and how fortunate they are to have been here. I doubt we'll ever be able to top Luangwa Safari House.

The Philips Family - UK

Luangwa Safari House, April 2011

The river safaris were magical, as was the walk to see the breeding colony of yellow billed storks. The staff worked very hard to look after us and I was very touched by the pride with which Isaac presented our food every day.

This was our first experience of Zambia, and Kiki and the team made it memorable. The skill with which they operate the camp and the levels of professionalism in their hospitality outrank most 5 star hotels I've stayed in. The logistics of looking after us and feeding us so far from 'civilisation' are complex and we do not underestimate the supreme effort that RPS have to put in to make it all run so smoothly. The staff were at all times friendly, willing and efficient, above and beyond the call of duty. Our guide Kanga was very good and went to endless trouble to find us animals and birds. The surprise sundowner on our last night was very, very special.

Daudi, Braston and the team were charming and wonderful hosts - complete with suprises, and an uncanny ability to show us everything we asked to see. The owl sitting at the very end was the icing on the cake!

Nsefu, January 2011

Words failed us as we arrived at the Lodge - it is stunning from an architectural point of view, and the way it is laid out overlooking the water hole makes it hard for you to tear yourself away for a walk/game drive! The elephant were there to greet us on arrival and they seemed to appear whenever we did!
Once again, the people who looked after us were wonderful and could not have been more helpful nor more charming company. A huge amount of thought and effort went into making my birthday incredibly special (surprise picnic brunch at the end of the morning walk - everything transported to a lovely spot by a water hole), birthday tea (with iced cake) and special performance by a local theatre group at Nkwali, drive with champagne sundowners, then a delicious dinner!

Mrs Judy Rylands - UK

Nkwali, December 2010

At Nsefu we had excellent drives (hunting lions, following a leopard for an hour in day time, hippos, crocos ( in and out the river). Many nocturnal animals we haven't seen before.
Mobiles: Great staff doing amazing things in the middle of nowhere!!!! (Excellent food, beautiful laundry and ever smiling face). Guides were able to see everything and from a distance. They do know their job.
At Nkwali we liked the setting of the camp with nice shades, big opened rooms on the outside and elephant pool by the dining room.

Mr. Jean-Claude Legrand - France

Nsefu, September 2010

Too many to choose from! The elephants in the mud at Luangwa Safari House. Being woken up by lions roaring at Chongwe River House. Outstanding experience. The best holiday we have been on. Very professional, friendly, fun, adventurous but safe.

Pumulani was an amazing place…every single facet was exemplary. Great guiding for bird-watching. Excellent Service, great hosts and staff. Overwhelming accommodation, beautiful villas, well maintained and clean, and very comfortable. The best food we’ve had in the region!

Pumulani, August 2010

This is one of my favourite places in the whole world. At the heart of it is the extraordinary staff. Jacob our guide is exceptionally knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a wonderful person. I learn new things from him every day. His love of his job is contagious and in addition to communicating so many facts about the animals and plants he communicates the wonder of the bush. Lucinda is a gracious, intelligent, lovely and wonderful hostess who is always available but never intrusive. She adds special personal touches. Simon is an incredible cook. In addition to the outstanding staff, the Luangwa House architecture and sight are stunningly beautiful.

Luangwa Bush Camping is the best camp for walking!

The Times

Luangwa Bush Camping, July 2010

What makes Pumulani so special is the views & the staff. There are views over the lake to 3 nearby villages where there is always lots of activity.
We saw fishermen on the lake in their dugout canoes & heard them singing as they worked. This created a wonderful atmosphere. The staff at Pumulani are mostly from the nearby villages. We were keen to learn about their lives and they were keen to hear about life in the UK. Malawi is a desperately poor country and it was good to see what Robin Pope are doing to help just a little.

Pumulani, June 2010

Kanga was an exceptional guide, always cheerful, polite and helpful. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of Zambian bush life and we really enjoyed the time we spent with him. The service was excellent, polite, efficient and courteous at all times. Wonderful accommodation, we had all the comforts and more of a 5* hotel but still with the feel of being in the bush. As requested, I was provided with excellent vegetarian meals thought out my stay. All the food, snacks and drinks were first class. Always driven well and safely.

Nkwali, June 2010

Absolutely fantastic place! Enormous and stunning accommodation, beautifully located and really well done – one of the best places we have ever stayed in!

Luke and Betty were excellent (please apologise to them again for us running off with the key – so sorry!) and run it brilliantly – very helpful, friendly and relaxed. All the staff were great, everything was really well organised and the activities were great fun. Lovely little touches like having your sundowner round the campfire, and lunch on the beach, were very much appreciated.

Pumulani, May 2010

Thank you to all at Pumulani and to Robin Pope safaris for an absolutely SUPER holiday, great for the kids, relaxing for me and with superb food, views and the privilege of being in the National Park. Glen was great with us and patient with the kids taking them fishing and taking us all tubing and on the sailing boat. We came back relaxed and felt so pampered there. It was amazing to see the cichlids around your feet just off the beach, whereas most places you have to have a trip off the island to see them.
Am now looking ahead to booking up at Christmas when my Mum visits and have spread the word in Blantyre and on facebook!

Pumulani, April 2010

Our time at Pumulani was absolutely amazing. We were there for three days and felt like we had been away for three weeks. Throughout our stay, we enjoyed the beautiful views from our villas - the clear blue lake surrounded by lush hills and mountains, the fisher village in the distance - you didn't know where to look first. We will definitely be back! :-)

I'm rarely given to sending emails but have been so affected by our recent trip to Zambia that I feel compelled to make an exception. We have travelled widely in Africa previously but our experience with RPS in Zambia and Malawi will remain in our memories forever. I'm quite certain you are used to the superlatives with which your whole organisation will have been described previously but we would like to add a few of our own. While Nkwali and Tena Tena and all the people associated were wonderful, the walking at Mupamadzi with Kiki as our guide is one of the most fulfilling events of our lives and has changed our perspective of the bush and safaris generally irrevocably. The logistics which allow the understated luxury and the attention to detail are as breathtaking as the experience of the bush and wildlife that goes with it. The whole ethos of your staff and organisation are admirable. Congratulations on a fantastic organisation, group of staff at all levels and providing such a won

Pumulani, August 2009

We could just take in the beauty of the landscape, the serendipitous actions of the animals, the soft and fragrant light at dawn and dusk, the company of curious and fun guests, the warmth and care of the camp staff and the mind altering shift being in the bush creates. The Robin Pope camps were perfect. We were privileged to see nature at its most loving and most brutal. We were grateful for the wisdom, passion and experience of our guides. We woke everyday knowing that something unexpected would happen. We slept deeply and awoke to the chill of the morning with delight and anticipation. My daughter had a transforming experience every day. Our visit to the Kawaza school was profound. It gave us hope for the Planet. It underscored what commitment and passion can make possible. My daughter’s view of the world is forever changed. And I could go on and on!

Lyn Andrews - Malawi

Nkwali, July 2009

A Christmas to remember.
We were lucky to be upgraded to Robin's House giving us the unexpected, but very welcome, luxury of our own bungalow complete with a dedicated team to look after us. We also had the benefit of game drives with just the two of us on board. The game viewing wasn't spectacular - as is often the case at this time of year - but our guide, Obi, ensured that there was always something of interest to see just around the next bend. Game viewing highlights included a pair of Pels Fishing Owls, spending time up close with elephants and their calves, and a male lion roaring from only 10m away!
Having the use of boats on our doorstep (literally) to get across the river, and into the park, added to the overall experience.
Opportunities for walking were somewhat curtailed due to the muddy conditions underfoot, but we manged to get out twice during our 6 days there.
The carol concert, where all the safari lodges and their guests congregated under a nearby baobab

We would like to express the appreciation of my family for the very unique experience we had at Pumulani. The views are stunning; the staff are excellent and the food was great. It was so relaxing in the villas, it was incredible. We look forward to spending more time there.
Mark and Jenna are wonderful and the staff take their cue from them.

All the best to Pumulani.

Pumulani, October 2008

South Luangwa Valley certainly offers the more authentic safari experience which I loved.

Too many lodges these days have opted for extreme luxury (often OTT), coupled with bush spas/gyms and gourmet bush dining, losing focus on what we are in the "bush" for. This certainly isn't true of the Valley and while accommodation was always comfortable, well appointed and food adequate without that feeling of being overfed (lots of nice salads, vegetables etc promoting healthy eating), focus was very much more on the game experience which, I must admit, exceeded all my expectations.

The game seems far more abundant than what I am used to seeing in SA - herds of elephant, buffalo, zebra, eland, puku, impala, kudu, giraffe, flocks of quelea and carmen bee-eaters (or swarms might be a more apt way to describe them!) and much much more. Out of the 5 game drives I did at the different lodges, we had brilliant sightings of leopard on 4 of them. The guides were also very know

Barbara James - South Africa

Nsefu, October 2008

All of the staff at Nkwali were great - laid back, but very professional, helpful, and friendly. Spectacular leopard sightings, and very good lion sightings, as well as all other expected wildlife. Guides were very knowledgeable and respectful for the welfare of the wildlife. Meals were excellent.

Nkwali, September 2008

Zambia was, as you had predicted really wonderful. Our guide Obi was very very good, and that daily chorus of hippos was really something. Debs 2 day walk was so much fun-she is so interesting - the operation is really well set up-but I am glad we did it for only 2 days as I felt I had to keep looking where I was walking and missed a lot! Robin and his wife Jo came for breakfast one morning. And crossing the river on the pontoon was really cool. Nsefu at the end was also great-and our last game drive was beyond anyone's dreams-including a dead hippo upside down with maybe 150 crocs tearing at him, plus other hippos coming up to pay their respects. This was 5 minutes after seeing a leopard go after impala (we saw 7 leopard in total), and followed by our mistakenly waking elephants sleeping on a termite mound who were quite upset with us.

Robin's House, September 2008

A really worthwhile trip. We visited villagers homes, met the headmaster of the local school, attended a church service, talked to a traditional healer, shopped at the local shop, fetched water from the well,..... In the evening they put on a show for us where the whole village seemed to show up. Drumming, singing and dancing with 'audience participation'! Ate 'local' meals, drank homemade brandy and wine - tasted pretty good!

The trip could not have been any better. First of all, David Rogers is an outstanding photographer and great teacher. The experience of travelling with him for a week was invaluable. Our tour guide, Jacob, was also outstanding. With a keen understanding of photography, Jacob knew when to leave to catch just the right light, where to go and provide an uncanny sense of knowledge of the African geography and wildlife. http://www.african-safari-journals.com/robin-pope-photographic-tour.html

Visiting the family community at Kawaza was inspiring. The hospitality we experienced was just amazing. Uby, Raphael and friends have created a very special place. It may lack some of the material trappings of a hotel closer to my home, but more importantly it makes up for that with its friendliness, enthusiasm to share what it has, and its ambitions for an exciting future.

I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks for a wonderful experience and felt that it is truly a unique place. The room was fabulous, the meals memorable and the service levels excellent. The game experience was a revelation and my guide would have embarrassed many of the so-called experts in South Africa.

Nkwali, May 2008

It is now, unbelievably, a month since our return from what we can only describe as the most magical, body and soul reviving, exciting and breathtakingly beautiful time we have yet spent at Nkwali. Two weeks of sheer pleasure with wonderful memories that will sustain us 'till our next visit.

ALL your staff are WONDERFUL, AMAZING, SIMPLY THE BEST. From Rob, Emily and Keyala down to the cheerful night watchman, outside our room who was so thrilled to show, and spotlight for us, with his torch, and we quote ''Madam! Sir! Look, look please, Baby bush, Baby bush.'' And there, in the tree, just above our door was the cutest Bush Baby staring down at us. From this time forward they will always be known asbaby bushes.

Our guide, Joseph, who also guided us last June when we brought friends, is a delight to be with, whether walking, driving or talking. His enthusiasm is boundless and we shared some very special moments with him.

Gary and I wanted to let you know what an incredible time we had on our 'Classic Safari'. It exceeded our expectations in every way and the game experience was better than my wildest dreams. The people were the best. They did a great job for us - everything went like clockwork and it turned out to be the easiest and best trip we ever had! We especially want to thank your wonderful guides - Zebron, Masumba, Nyambe and his spotter, Chilumba.

Nkwali, September 2007

As I think Chris mentioned before we arrived, whilst we are not scratching up 34 safaris yet like some of your guests, we have spent a little time in the bush, over the past 5 years since our honeymoon, in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Gabon and Madhya Pradesh in India. We rank our time with RPS in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park (and with the Tethers at Kutandala in North Luangwa National Park) as one of our best experiences to date.

Things that particularly impressed us include the:

Deep professionalism of everyone we encountered - RPS staff were all friendly, of course, but also very committed and sensitive, but without a level of professionalism, this is not enough. This was unfortunately brought home to us during the 2 nights we spent at another camp prior to coming to RPS where the show was just a bit too slapdash, even though friendly;
Breadth of variety of experiences available is unsurpassed in our prior experience in the bush

Hilary and I have just returned from our month-long trip to southern Africa including our third stay at Nkwali.

We just wanted to let you know that the RPS camps we have stayed in (all three plus the mobile) remain our firm favorites - for their location, the great staff and the superbly managed operation. It was particularly enjoyable to visit during the green season, to see the river high and the lush foliage, and to see many birds that we hadn't previously seen (and the wild dogs!).
