Wild Dog Week ~ 27 March 2009

Rates and Availability

Wild Dog Wild Dog Week – African Wild Dog Conservation (AWDC) has been operating in Zambia since 1998, carrying out conservation and research activities to conserve Zambia’s populations of this highly endangered species. The AWDC team is based with Nkwali camp and will be pleased to accompany you on activities and share their work with you.

You will spend time with AWDC Ecologist Claire Harrison and her team, tracking the fascinating wild dogs, learning about ecological survey techniques in the field including lion identification and prey surveys, attending lectures and visiting AWDC’s education partner Chipembele Wildlife Centre. The schedule is flexible as the wild dogs are unpredictable, only one of the activities will be with AWDC per day. The dogs travel huge distances so sightings are not guaranteed (although both trips in 2006 had sightings, 2008 only had one but the week was thoroughly enjoyed by all), but this trip gives you a chance to gain some exclusive insights into the AWDC conservation program. In addition to the above activities, you will also enjoy game drives and/or walking safaris in the Park with a guide from Robin Pope Safaris.

A note from Dave at the end of the 2006 safari.....

“Dear Jo,
It was a really great pleasure to spend a decent time at RPS. I was so impressed by the depth of the experience. Great service, good guiding, wonderful hosting. It was a truly memorable experience. No wonder RPS has such a great name. Fully deserved. We all had a great trip back together and kissed and hugged at the Airport like old friends. What a blessed job I have.
