This itinerary offers a unique bush camping experience in a prime location of the South Luangwa during the underrated Emerald Season.
Always after offering off the beaten track experiences, we launched the safari during the month of April to give a different dimension to bush camping when the Luangwa Valley is at its most dramatic. A combination of two fixed camps and an overnight ‘camping’ will make for an exceptional safari especially for this time of year. Activities will include walking, game drives and possibly boating (largely depends on how much rain fall the Valley would have received).
Tips on activities on offer:
South Luangwa: walking, game drives (day and night), seasonal boating (depends on how much rainfall has fallen), Kawaza Village Tour, Tribal Textiles tour (for souvenirs), Chipembele Wildlife Orphanage visit.
A guide from Robin Pope Safaris will meet you at Mfuwe Airport and transfer you to Nkwali Camp through colourful village life and a bit of game viewing too. This camp is set on a wide view of the Luangwa River. On Robin Pope Safaris’ private land, and overlooking the South Luangwa National Park, Nkwali offers both stunning location and easy access to the park. The six rooms all look out over the river and have open air bathrooms. Meals are served looking out over the lagoon to the back of Nkwali or dotted around the camp, so you can fully appreciate the openness of Africa – whether it’s the clear skies or magical starlit sky at night!
Itinerary Nkwali Camp 2 nights, Bush Camping 1 night & Luangwa River Camp 2 nights. There is an option to spend 2 nights bush camping if preferred.
