A combination of Robin Pope Safari properties in the premier Zambian park of South Luangwa plus Majete Wildlife Reserve and ending off at Lake Malawi.

The unspoiled South Luangwa National Park is one of natural jewels in Zambia’s crown, and home to one of the most varied collections of wildlife on the planet. The park is centered around the Luangwa River. Nkwali Camp is your base to enjoy this beautiful park.

Mkulumadzi Lodge in Majete Wildlife Reserve enjoys a stunning location on the confluence of two rivers. Majete Wildlife Reserve is one of the outstanding success stories of African conservation. Granted protected status in 1955, it became the subject of extensive poaching in the 1980s and 1990s. But a concerted joint effort since 2003 by the African Parks Network and the Malawi government – including the reintroduction of endangered species – has turned it into a model of sustainable development and biodiversity.

Situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula on the Southern end of Lake Malawi you can find Pumulani Lodge subtly nestled in the lush hills amongst the trees and craggy outcrops. The ten villas provide the ultimate in space, design, comfort and privacy. The lodge offers the perfect mix for a memorable holiday. Enjoy being active or simply relax in the beautiful and tranquil scenery.

Day 1 - 4: Nkwali Camp

You will start you Robin Pope Exclusive safari at Nkwali Camp, which is located on the banks of the Luangwa on a magnificent meander in the river overlooking the National Park where leopards roam along the bank and can often be spotted from camp. Many places claim to be "among the remaining wilderness areas" or "one of the last wildlife sanctuaries"; South Luangwa National Park lives up to both and more. The Luangwa Valley is vast, remote and home to both people and a truly impressive variety of game.

Nkwali Camp is a small intimate and authentic camp and is the ideal start off point to any safari with a few more creature comforts than the bush camps to help ease people into the African way of life. While at Nkwali Camp, you have the option of 2 game activities per day, with the choice of a game drive or a walking safari. There is no typical day on safari, you can choose to do as little or as much as you like although we recommend at least one activity per day. Apart from the game activities, there are also some enriching cultural experiences such as visits to the local village and school to see what local Zambian life is about. A trip to one of the wildlife education centres is also encouraged.

Day 5 - 7: Mkulumadzi Lodge

Mkulumadzi Lodge is located on the confluence of the Shire and Mkulumadzi River; within Majete Wildlife Reserve. Majete is one of the largest protected parks in Malawi and covers an area of over 70,000ha. The lodge enjoys a stunning location on the confluence of two rivers. Over the next few days you will get to experience the magic of Majete Wildlife Reserve, with a chance of many exciting encounters lie in store, with the chance to view many species including black rhino, leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, eland, kudu, sable, suni, klipspringer, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and zebra.

In terms of wildlife activities, during your stay at Mkulumadzi Lodge, there is alot in store. Exciting game drives each morning or afternoon are always a favourite, with the evening drives lasting into the early evening, giving guests a chance to experience the park after dark. Exploring Majete on foot is also highly recommended. Early mornings are the best - and coolest - times for walking. Boating on the Shire River is a relaxing way to view wildlife. The lush banks of the Shire are popular with elephant and buffalo; hippo and crocodile sightings are guaranteed and birdlife is abundant. This activity is however dependent on water levels. A trip to Mkulumadzi Lodge would not be complete without a night on the star deck (when the weather permits it), allowing one to completely immerse themselves in their surroundings.

Day 8 - 10: Pumulani Lodge

Lake Malawi is the world’s most ecologically diverse lake. Its crystal clear waters are home to more than a thousand species of fish, including hundreds of species of colourful cichlids. We offer special diving courses at the best diving spots near one of the islands. For those who are interested in the real Malawian village life we offer guided walks through one of the local villages. On this part safari, rest and relaxation is key, allowing you to do as little or as much as you like.

Pumulani Lodge is exclusively situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula, surrounded by the Lake Malawi National Park. Over the next few days, you can choose to do as little or as much as you like in terms of activities. Our remote beach setting is ideal for those who simply want to soak up the sun and swim in the clear blue waters of the lake. Those who prefer to take a dive in the swimming pool, there is an infinity pool near the central dining area with grand views over the lake, as well as another infinity pool on beach level. For those seeking activity we offer many watersports activities like snorkeling, fishing, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, wake boarding and fun tube rides (all motorized activities are excluded).
