Description

Mvuu Lodge is set on a lagoon, just off the Shire River in Liwonde National Park. The Park has recently come under the management of African Parks who have reintroduced varies game species, so guests are set to enjoy some great diversity of game viewing along with excellent birding.

Accommodation is in 8 spacious tents, including a honeymoon suite. Each of these has a private viewing platform across the lagoon. 3 tents also include a plunge pool.
The main lounge area is raised to give impressive long-views across the Shire.

Each spacious tent is en suite and overlooks a lagoon. A private deck affords each tent extra privacy and game viewing opportunities across the lagoon.

Wildlife

Wildlife includes large numbers of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles as well as kudu, sable, and bushbuck. A healthy population of rhinos were reintroduced by African Parks in 2019, adding on to the diversity of game found here. Predators include leopards (not frequently seen), hyena and in most recent years cheetah and lions have also been reintroduced by African Parks. As the population of both cheetah and lion start to increase, sightings are also on the rise.

Liwonde has over 400 bird species including Pel’s fishing owl, palmnut vulture, Livingstone’s flycatcher, and Boehm’s bee-eater – birders paradise!
