Located at the end of the Rift Valley, in the northernmost part of Zambia this is an area of unspoilt natural beauty which is often referred to as the ‘real Africa’! The estate on which the house sits includes a wildife reserve spanning over 20 000 acres or stunning terrain as well as a natural lake.

The estate itself combines the African history and colonial touches perfectly thus giving guests a look back into a bygone era. The relaxed atmosphere, rich history, and incredible culture make for an unforgettable visit.

The House has five colonial-style bedrooms, four of them en suite, a warm, hospitable lounge and dining room opening on to a typically colonial all round veranda that offers spectacular views down to the lake. All rooms are simple with original hardwood furnishings and paintings and en-suite bathrooms. They each have a fireplace in the room which is lit on chilly evenings. The house is a testament to the determination of its founder, Sir Stewart Gore-Browne, and is filled with memorabilia and historical records.

Shiwa Ngandu offers both a working farm experience and game experience too. Exclusive game and bird walks and drives are also on offer along with boating and fishing on the lake. The rare and elusive papyrus dwelling Sitatunga antelope and the Blue Duiker, are great highlights, along with 22 other mammal species inhabit the area. The bird life is prolific with over 375 different species of birds, making also a great birding area.
