AboutGonarezhou National Park
The south-east Lowveld is named after its geographical position in Zimbabwe and is a hotter, drier area that borders Mozambique and South Africa. The well-known Gonarezhou National Park (meaning “Place of many Elephants”) sits alongside Mozambique and the Save-Runde confluence in the park is at the lowest point of Zimbabwe. These rivers are a scenic attraction and bring birds and animals to their banks and riverine woodlands. One of the most prominent and enduring natural features of Gonarezhou is the stunning Chilojo Cliffs. These magnificent red sandstone cliffs have formed over centuries of erosion and look out over the Runde Valley.
