A magical getaway

Experience warm African hospitality as you enjoy your holiday exploring Zambia and Malawi’s major highlights. Starting at one of the world’s natural wonders, the Victoria Falls; heading onto a safari experience in one of the world’s remaining true wildernesses, South Luangwa – both in Zambia. The trip ends at Lake Malawi staying at Pumulani (literally meaning place of rest) where you can relax and soak in some sun.

Livingstone where Waterberry Lodge is located is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, The Victoria Falls, and offers many opportunities, both adrenaline filled and more sedate, to view this amazing site. There are gameviewing opportunities too, with a chance to see the white rhino in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and river trips on the Zambezi River.

South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, is one of the last unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa, through which the meandering Luangwa River runs. The ox bow lagoons, woodland and plains of the valley host huge concentrations of game – including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo – and over 450 species of birds. Luangwa River Camp is located in a prime area just outside the national park.

Pumulani Lodge on Nankumba Peninsula recognized as one of the most beautiful shores of the Lake and borders Lake Malawi National Park. This Park was established in order to protect the cichlid fish unique to the area. In 1984 the park was designated a World Heritage Site.

Day 1 - 3: Waterberry Lodge

Your first stop on your safari is none other than Livingstone, home to the Victoria Falls, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
Waterberry Lodge is stretched out along the Zambezi River, within rich green foliage and has colourful flower borders and rolling lawns with thatched cottages scattered around the gardens. Guests do as much or as little as they wish, with game drives, bush walks and boating trips to enjoy some safari feel; or take a short, guided tour of the majestic Victoria Falls. You can also enjoy the Falls from inside the gorge, from Livingstone Island and from the air. Livingstone offers an endless list of adrenalin activities (bungee and white-water rafting are popular examples).

Day 4 - 6: Luangwa River Camp

Luangwa River Camp sits nestled under an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the game rich area known as the Luangwa Wafwa. This small and intimate camp with just five bush suites, along with its setting and location creates a real “wow” factor and a romantic feeling simply flows through the camp. During your time at Luangwa River Camp, a typical day consists of 2 game activities per day, with the choice of a game drive or a walking safari. Early morning is best for doing walking safaris as well as game drives and commence after a light breakfast. Once brunch and a siesta followed by tea time treats, its back out into the park to see what the late afternoon/early evening has to offer. Alternatively a cultural tour or trip to a wildlife education centre can be arrange, which gives one a more holistic experience of the Luangwa Valley.

Day 6 - 8: Pumulani Lodge

Last but not least, some sun and sand on the Lake of Stars... Lake Malawi is the world’s most ecologically diverse lake.
Pumulani Lodge is exclusively situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula, surrounded by the Lake Malawi National Park. Over the next few days, you can choose to do as little or as much as you like in terms of activities. Our remote beach setting is ideal for those who simply want to soak up the sun and swim in the clear blue waters of the lake. Those who prefer to take a dive in the swimming pool, there is an infinity pool near the central dining area with grand views over the lake, as well as another infinity pool on beach level. For those seeking activity we offer many watersports activities like snorkeling, fishing, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, wake boarding and fun tube rides (all motorized activities are excluded). At the end of the day climb aboard our dhow and let our experienced local crewmen take you sailing into the sunset.

Our honeymoon was kicked off in the Victoria Falls, followed by an exceptional safari in South Luangwa National Park and ending off on Lake Malawi.
