AboutHarare
Zimbabwe’s beautiful capital city, is in the north east of the country and is home to the Shona people, the most dominant tribe in Zimbabwe. Wide jacaranda-lined avenues, tall city architecture and dusty red earth give the city a cosmopolitan air with a laid-back feel. Harare has an estimated population of 1.6 million (2009) and, at 1,483m above sea level, enjoys a moderate climate with warm, sunny summers and temperate winters. It is the seat of government and the commercial centre of the country. Zimbabwe’s main international airport is in Harare, and the smaller Charles Prince Airport services light aircraft for the internal private sector.
