Well, hello there. I hope that you are fabulously well and have had a lovely weekend. Here in the Luangwa time is truly whistling past as we scramble around frantically getting work done at Luangwa Safari House. As the thatching team take off the old grass from the roof and the workshop team remove it from site there is another assistant who has appeared in the mix and during the human lull a saddle billed stork has been spied grabbing a few pieces for its nest that it is busy building. The elephants have been diligent in their overseeing of the project but have equally been causing a few moments of panic as they are also having fun hiding behind the pile of grass which causes quite the shock for all and sundry. The baboons have been having an absolute blast on the new deck although there was an incident when one of the bigger males hadn’t realized that one of the planks going quite far off the edge hadn’t been screwed in and him and said plank really rather lost their balance!
Anyway, we are not here in the Luangwa this week instead we are heading over to the Lake to hear from Kascha at Pumulani, so Kascha over to you:
“The last sunset cruise has sailed for the season, and now it is time to transition from the vibrant holiday season to the rainy season here at the Lake. As we reflect on the past months, we are filled with a deep sense of warmth, joy, and nostalgia for the unforgettable moments shared at Pumulani.
This season has been a celebration of the Lake’s tranquil beauty and the vibrant activities that made every day unique. From golden sunlight shimmering on the water to the laughter echoing across its shores, Pumulani came alive with the energy and joy of our guests. Mornings greeted us with soft breezes and the promise of endless adventures, as families gathered to paddle through the still waters or set out on exciting excursions. Evenings were nothing short of magical, as sunsets painted the sky and guests relaxed around campfires, sharing stories, toasting marshmallows, and enjoying the simplicity of life in nature’s embrace.
As we waved goodbye to our final guests of the season, our team began the important work of preparing for the next chapter. Closing tasks were distributed, inventory was carefully checked, and a detailed plan for lodge improvements began to take shape. Individual staff check-ins allowed us to celebrate accomplishments, set goals, and provide training opportunities to ensure we are ready to welcome you back with even better service.
Currently, the lodge is being rejuvenated for the new season. A fresh coat of paint, polished floors, and essential repairs are underway to enhance the holiday experience for all our guests. This exciting transformation ensures that Pumulani remains a place of comfort, beauty, and connection.
We are deeply grateful for the moments you have shared with us and for your generosity in giving back to the community, which truly makes a difference. As we prepare for another memorable year, we trust that the memories created at Pumulani will continue to bring you happiness. We are excited about the possibilities 2025 holds and look forward to sharing more special moments with you.
