The Wait is Over: Kingdom is Coming!
We’re beyond excited that the BBC’s new wildlife series, Kingdom, launches this weekend. Narrated by David Attenborough and filmed over five incredible years, it follows the real-life dramas of four African apex predators: leopards, lions, hyenas, and wild dogs, right here in South Luangwa, Zambia, in the Nsefu Sector, exactly where our own story began nearly 40 years ago.
Kingdom is more than just another wildlife documentary to us. Not only was it filmed right here in the Nsefu Sector, where we run Nsefu Camp, Tena Tena, and Luangwa Bush Camping, but we were also part of the journey, hosting the BBC film crew over the past five years. Alongside wildlife filmmakers, Will & Lianne Steenkamp (who are based at Nsefu Camp, and are known for their award-winning story of Olimba: Leopard Legacy), we had a front-row seat to this incredible project. The team also worked closely with the Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP), with whom we’ve collaborated with for over a decade through Carnivore Week, a safari celebrating the stars of Kingdom. For us, this series is deeply personal, being part of its creation and seeing the predators we know and love on screen makes it truly special.
And yes, the late Olimba is feautured too! Anyone who was lucky enough to see her on safari or followed her journey on screen, will be thrilled to see her take centre stage, as we revisit her story alongside her family. She’s joined by three other incredible carnivore families: Tenta’s Hyena Clan, Rita’s Lion Pride, and Storm’s Wild Dog Pack.

Kingdom begins on BBC One this Sunday, 9th November at 18:20 GMT and will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. For our friends in North America, it premieres on January 24 on BBC America And AMC+.
But there’s more… we’re taking it a step further with our brand-new Nsefu Kingdom Safari, explore the Nsefu Sector with a stay at Nsefu and Tena Tena camp. This trip takes off on 23 August 2026 and is exclusive to just six guests. Led by Keyala “Kiki” Phiri, a safari legend, imagine being in the very place where Kingdom was brought to life, exploring the same wild spaces ruled by the four stars of the series.
Tune in and enjoy one of the greatest wildlife documentaries of our time, and once you’ve watched it, let us take you there to see our ‘Kingdom’ in real life!
More details of this very exciting new safari will follow soon. Meanwhile drop us an email if you want to reserve a spot.
