Nestled between the mighty Zambezi and the rolling Limpopo River, Zimbabwe has always been considered as one of the best destinations in the safari world. It offers dramatic landscapes; endless natural beauty; a pleasant climate, world renowned guides and some of the best wildlife encounters on earth.
Our Classic Zimbabwe safari gives you a chance to explore some of this incredible country, enjoying authentic safari experiences, the kind that some can only dream of!
Hwange National Park
We’re starting the trip off on a high note, as Hwangwe National Park is the first stop on your Classic Zimbabwe Safari. Proclaimed a game reserve in 1928 and officially deemed a national park in 1930, Hwange is the jewel in Zimbabwe’s national-parks crown. It is the country’s largest game park and despite the relatively low amounts of water, it is home to one of the largest elephant populations in the world as well as a tremendous amount of other wildlife including wild dog, lions and other safari staples. 3 nights at The Hide allows you to explore this incredible wilderness area through game drives and walking safaris.
Matusadona National Park
From the arid lands of Hwange, we now take you up north to the Matusadona National Park where water is in abundance due to it’s location on the shores of Lake Kariba as well as having two perennial rivers running through it. The park has an exotic blend of pristine and rugged wilderness that has created a home for an abundance of wildlife, including the Big 5. Changa Safari Camp is perfectly located to make the most of this special park and during the 3 nights you will be able to enjoy a mix of water based and land based safari activities.
Mana Pools National Park
Saving the best for last, the final stop on the trip is none other than Mana Pools National Park, which is one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The word Mana means 4 in the local Shona language and refers to the 4 main pools that the Zambezi River has carved out over 1000s of years. It has a wonderful blend of grassy floodplains, woodlands, riverine forest and its backdrop are the mountains of the Rift Valley Escarpment. The last 3 nights of this classic safari will be spent at Robin Pope Safaris’ John’s Camp who’s idyllic location allows you to truly enjoy all that this park has to offer, including some of the best walking safaris in the world. We can’t think of a better place to end your trip!
So as you can see, Zimbabwe offers a unique untamed wilderness as well as a diversity of landscape which is hard to beat, and our Classic Zimbabwe Safari is the quintessential African safari that will last a lifetime!
